Let’s take a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina—a beautiful coastal city on the East Coast that has earned its reputation as one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States. From the moment we arrived, it was easy to see why so many families, couples, and groups return year after year. With its wide sandy beaches, lively boardwalk, endless entertainment options, fantastic shopping, and unforgettable food scene, Myrtle Beach truly offers something for everyone. I really didn’t know where to start first. After checking into the hotel we mapped out a plan on what to do first.
Naturally, our first stop was the beach. There’s nothing quite like kicking off your shoes, feeling the warm sand between your toes, and listening to the steady rhythm of the ocean waves. The beach felt open, relaxing, and welcoming—perfect for slowing down and soaking in the moment. Whether people were walking along the shoreline, building sandcastles, or simply sitting under umbrellas enjoying the breeze, the atmosphere was calm yet full of life. What really amazed me, though, was the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Stretching along the oceanfront, it’s packed with attractions, restaurants, shops, and entertainment that keep the area buzzing from morning until late at night. One of the most iconic sights is the SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, which towers over the boardwalk and offers breathtaking views of the coastline. Riding the SkyWheel gave us a whole new perspective of the beach and city—it was peaceful, scenic, and absolutely worth it.

Just steps away, Family Kingdom Amusement Park adds even more excitement to the boardwalk area. This classic seaside amusement park is a favorite for both kids and adults, with rides ranging from gentle attractions for little ones to thrilling roller coasters. Walking past the park, hearing laughter and music in the air, made the whole boardwalk feel lively and fun. We really couldn’t pass this up. Whether you’re spending the day relaxing by the ocean or exploring the attractions along the boardwalk, the oceanfront truly feels like the heart of Myrtle Beach.
While the beach is a major draw, Myrtle Beach offers so much more beyond the shoreline. The city is also known for its live entertainment, making it a great destination for evenings filled with music and shows. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of performances, including The Man of a Thousand Voices and Legends in Concert, where talented performers bring famous stars to life on stage. These shows add an exciting layer to the Myrtle Beach experience and are a great way to unwind after a long day in the sun.
After a day of exploring, one thing we quickly learned was that Myrtle Beach takes its food seriously. The dining scene here is impressive, especially if you love seafood. One of my favorite stops was Margaritaville, a lively restaurant known for its tropical vibe, upbeat music, and generous portions. The atmosphere alone makes it a fun place to visit, but the food and drinks were just as memorable. A word of advice—if you order the nachos, make sure you have someone to share them with. They were delicious but so large that I barely had room for anything else!
Seafood lovers will feel right at home in Myrtle Beach. I know I did, because I love seafood. We enjoyed a fantastic meal at Bubba’s Fish Camp & Smokehouse, where we ordered the family meal. It came loaded with flounder, catfish, shrimp, and three hearty sides—more than enough food for everyone at the table. The flavors were fresh, comforting, and exactly what you hope for when dining along the coast. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff was great.

Another standout dining experience was Hook & Barrel, a restaurant that combines fresh seafood with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. Before starting out with our food we sat outdoors on the swings around the fire pit and enjoyed the scenery. We started with peel-and-eat shrimp, which were perfectly seasoned, and finished the meal with a sweet pecan tart that felt like the perfect ending. The attention to detail and friendly service made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Honestly, the food scene in Myrtle Beach was one of the highlights of our trip and a big reason we already know we’ll be back.
Of course, no vacation would be complete without a little shopping, and Myrtle Beach offers plenty of options. Before leaving, we made our way to the Tanger Outlet Mall, which was the perfect place for some retail therapy. With stores like Disney, Bath & Body Works, Coach, and Polo Ralph Lauren, there’s something for every style and budget. The open layout made it easy to browse at a relaxed pace, and it was nice to take a break from sightseeing while still enjoying the day. One thing I really appreciated about Tanger Outlets was the variety of dining options available right inside the shopping center. Whether you’re in the mood for something quick or just need a snack to keep you going, places like Charleys Cheesesteaks, Five Guys, and Ben & Jerry’s make it easy to grab a bite without slowing down your shopping plans.
In addition to shopping and dining, Myrtle Beach also offers a wide range of family-friendly attractions. Mini-golf courses, arcades, water parks, and outdoor activities are scattered throughout the area, making it easy to keep everyone entertained. The city has a fun, laid-back vibe that makes it ideal for families, but it’s just as enjoyable for couples or solo travelers looking to relax and explore. One of the things I loved most about Myrtle Beach was how everything felt easily accessible. You can spend the morning on the beach, the afternoon shopping or sightseeing, and the evening enjoying a live show or great meal—all without feeling rushed. The balance between relaxation and entertainment is what truly sets Myrtle Beach apart.
As our trip came to an end, I found myself already thinking about what we’d do differently on our next visit. There were still so many restaurants to try, attractions to explore, and beach days to enjoy. Myrtle Beach has a way of making you feel comfortable, welcomed, and excited to return. Our trip to Myrtle Beach was everything we hoped for—relaxing, fun, and filled with unforgettable experiences. From the sandy beaches and bustling boardwalk to live shows, shopping, and incredible food, this coastal city truly has it all. Whether you’re traveling as a family, a couple, or even solo, Myrtle Beach offers endless opportunities to create lasting memories. One thing is certain—we can’t wait to return and experience even more of what this wonderful destination has to offer.
