When I first visited Hot Springs, Arkansas, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ll admit I was a little skeptical-but this trip turned out to be both relaxing and educational, and it quickly became one of my favorite destinations. From historic hotels to natural hot springs, spas, and scenic mountain views, Hot Springs has so much to offer.
Our choice of hotel was the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa, and it did not disappoint. This historic hotel, which was first opened in 1875, is the largest in Hot Springs and truly breathtaking. I was in awe of the rich history and timeless beauty of this hotel. Between the elegant Crystal Ballroom and the Venetian Dining Room, the Arlington feels like you’re stepping back in time. Of course, I couldn’t pass up the chance to experience the hotel’s thermal bathhouse. I soaked in the mineral water tub, relaxed in the hot sauna, enjoyed a refreshing shower, and even tried hot towel wraps before finishing with a massage. The whole experience was so relaxing that all I could think about afterward was sinking into bed for a long, peaceful sleep. Honestly, this experience was worth every penny-I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
One of the best things about staying at the Arlington is that it’s just steps away from Bathhouse Row and Hot Springs National Park. Walking through this area feels magical-you’ll discover historic bathhouses, quaint antique shops, local museum, and plenty of restaurants. Inside the national park, you can explore ancient thermal springs, hiking trails, creeks, and scenic mountain views. It’s the perfect destination for both history lovers and nature enthusiasts. For a fun and quirky experience, the famous Duck Tours are a must. These amphibious vehicles drive through downtown, splash into Lake Hamilton, and then return to the streets of Hot Springs. The tour last about 90 minutes and offers a unique way to see the city from both land and water. For breathtaking panoramic views, head to Hot Springs Mountain Tower, which rises 1256 feet above sea level. From the top, you can see over 140 miles of Arkansas countryside, including Hot Springs National Park and the Ouachita Mountains. It’s truly a sight you won’t forget.
Hot Springs also has a fantastic food scene. Whether you’re craving American comfort food, Asian cuisine, or Italian classics, there’s something for everyone. Some of my favorites included: The Back Porch Grill-great steaks and seafood. Osaka Japanese Restaurant-reliable hibachi and sushi. The Pancake Shop-a must-visit for delicious breakfast and friendly service. And if those spots aren’t quite what you’re looking for, there are plenty of other restaurants in Hot Springs waiting to be discovered. I know I’ve given you lots of ideas for activities, but don’t forget-Hot Springs also has plenty of shopping to explore.
I’m so glad we added Hot Springs, Arkansas to our list of travels. This city offers the perfect balance of relaxation, history, and adventure. Between the Arlington Hotel, Bathhouse Row, Hot Springs National Park, and all the delicious dinning options, I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and eager to return.
